Puritans!!!

The puritans believed that jesus did not die for all of us, he died for only some. They said that we were all born sinners because of Adam and Eves sin. No matter what you did you were still going to hell. Their were only a few who were going to be saved and god choose them.

Seeing how these people actually believed Jonathan Edwards' interpretation is actually sad. The way he interpreted the word of god just put fear in people. It seems as though he just wanted total control over their emotions. His interpretations were always compared to some sort of disaster. "Thus it is that natural man is held in the hands of god over the pit of hell and that they have deserved it' I completely disagree with his interpretation. Yes we are all sinners but we have the oportunity to regain our selfs and be saved.

The way these people lived wasnt helthy. They worried so much about dieing and going to hell that they weren't happy within them selves. I'm not trying to point the finger but I thnk the interpreter of the word had the fault of these peoples fear of dieing. If the interpreter had not been so forsful with his words I think these people might of lived our moder day.

The voyage of the pilgrims was constructive. They meet the natives and befriended them. The natives were scared at first but aswell befriended the pilgrims and they came to an agreement. Their agreement constructed of six terms. One being that 'That neither he nor any of his should injure or do hurt to any of their people'. I think that for the puritans to know they were going to hell no matter what they did try to carry themselves well.
